Transjakarta to operate four routes around Tanah Abang skywalk

City-owned bus operator PT Transjakarta will provide services on three new routes around the newly opened Tanah Abang Skybridge in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. “One of the reasons for constructing the multifunction bridge is to integrate modes of transportation at Tanah Abang Station […], where street vendors and ojek (motorcycle taxi) commonly flock the area in front of the station,” city-owned market operator PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya president director Yoory C. Pinontoan said in a written statement on Friday. Read more here
It’s good to know that the city is committed in providing better transportation around Tanah Abang. Locals as well as tourist, most especially, will benefit from the new routes provided. But despite this development, street vendors and ojek continue to cause congestion in the area. There are many national and international feedbacks about the heavy traffic which ruin the image of Indonesia and Tanah Abang. Although most people are happy with the skybridge and the new routes, there are of course, some who are not still pleased like those pedestrians who have to walk further just to reach the station.
